9. Siwa Oasis
Well, the name gives you a hint. Here is an oasis out of the desert. This is on a former trade route and is now a popular tourist spot that’s still up and coming, and growing. 8. Abu Simbel
This architectural wonder is truly a feat, like many of the structures here in the country. The mountainside was intricately and carefuly cut to eventually showcase the monument with stone pharos honoring Pharaoh Ramesses and his Queen Nefertari. This duel temple is truly spectacular and just one of the highly visited attractions.
7. Valley of the Kings
Tutankhamun’s tomb is the only one left untainted, but this spot still hold much antiquity in its walls. There are compiled chambers holding tombs that range in magnitude and importance. There was nearly 500 years worth of history and tomb constructions for the kings during this time. Everything is royally adorned with Egyptian paintings and stories.
6. Aswan
Just chill, dude. This is the spot to let the city grit and grime wash off and for you to find your inner zen. Orange sand dunes sweep around the riverbanks of the Nile providing a beautiful scene to admire. When you have regained your energy, visit Elephant Island to see the vibrant streets of the Nubian Village, check out some of the historical buildings of interest, and enjoy a tea at a waterfront cafe.
5. Red Sea
Are you a diver? Well, then this is surely on your list already if you know where some of the best places to go diving are. The visibility is second to none and you know that means you will get the clearest view of the spectacular life beneath your fins. The coral is vibrantly bursting from the floors and thousands of sea creatures call its reefs home. The resort town of Hurghada is an excellent escape to rejuvenate yourself for your further travels.
4. Giza
This is no secret, it’s one of the attractions that’s impossible to miss while in Egypt. Khufu was the first generation to build the pyramids, and his reigning sons continued with two more pyramids being erected over three generations. The experience is humbling to say the least.
3. Karnak
Despite its tattered and torn state, these ruins are seriously magical. This is the largest religious site and took generation after generation to construct. Temples are dotted throughout the complex and Hypostyle Hall is the famous spot with all of the gigantic columns amounting to 134 in total standing tall.
2. Ibn Tulun Mosque
One of the oldest in the capital city, this mosque dates back to 800s AD. This temples can be found in movies like James Bond, and the temples now have many wanderers who are fascinated by its constructions and impressive minaret.

If you’re in need of a getaway from the archeological trekking and history overload, Dahab is the place to just chill. It maintains a somewhat of a hippy culture with chilled out vibes vibrating through the coastal town. If you still want to get out there and do something, you should know that watersports like diving, windsurfing and snorkeling are big here.
