7 Easiest Dental Hygiene Programs in America

If you are interested in beginning your career in the dental field, take a look at our list of the 7 easiest dental hygiene programs in America.

As a child and teen, I spent a lot of time at the dentist. I think I just inherited unruly teeth, as I have never been a big fan of sweets and sugary candy or drinks, and my mom rarely lets us have that stuff in the first place. Regardless, I still spent more than my share of time going to the dentist on top of the twice a year cleaning. I do remember always looking forward to a dentist appointment because it meant I got to get out of school for a few hours, plus I got to pick a small toy from the dentist’s prize box and get a sticker at the end of the appointment. It does not take much for a kid.

While I spent a lot of time at dentist appointments, I never actually considered going into dentistry as a career. For one, a dental school would probably not be my cup of tea, and I also really don’t have the interest to work in people’s mouths all day. However, I have lots of friends who are dentists in various specialties, and they have done very well in life. They also have the potential to have flexible schedules if they own their practice, which is nice. If you would like to learn about dental colleges in general, not just in a specific discipline, then check out our article on the 7 easiest dental schools to get into.

Some of my peers from high school went on to go to school to be dental hygienists, which is a great field with lots of opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for a dental hygienist in the U.S. was around $72,000 in 2016. In the majority of places in the country, that’s an excellent salary to have. The bureau also expects job opportunities in the field to grow within the next decade.
