Working for a government agency may not be the place where you will be making the most money, however, the benefits make a big difference. Most government agencies operate Monday through Friday and definitely not on holidays. In a government job you also have the power to make the difference. The work done by your agency, in extension by you has an impact on all U.S. citizens across the country. Sometimes, depending on the nature of the work, it has an impact all over the world. Another interesting fact about a federal job is that there is a job for everyone. No matter where you interest lies, you will be able to find a suitable job in some federal agency for sure. However, perhaps the most important thing about the federal jobs is the level of job security. No matter how harsh the economic conditions get, you are fairly secured if you work for the government.

As with any job, there are some significant drawbacks to federal jobs as well. To be objective, we must also talk about those drawbacks too. The government as a whole is a massive agency that works for the people. Bureaucracy is the first drawback that comes to mind. By bureaucracy we mean that it takes a long time to get things done, due to a very complex work policy that government agencies employ in order to ensure transparency. It can be a good thing but also sometimes a bad thing, when time is of the essence. The hiring process itself is cited as a drawback for government jobs by many experts as it is long, tiring and requires a lot of patience on the part of the would-be candidate. The final subject we want to address here is politics. Government work is political by nature. When a new government is formed, things are bound to change in the agencies, and that can cause disturbances for the employees of said agencies. The perfect example of a government agency is the police. If you happen to know someone in the police force, who is looking for a job in the private sector then you should recommend them to read the following article 7 Jobs for Police Officers in the Private Sector.

The government of the United States oversees the 50 states, The District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. Now as you can imagine, this is a mammoth undertaking. For all of this to work, the government has three branches, the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. In turn these three branches have agencies and departments under them, that eventually get things done. Naturally, most federal employees work inside the United States, as only a small percentage of federal employees work abroad in U.S. facilities like the embassies and consulate offices.

To come up with the list of easiest government agencies to get into, we had to take help from various websites. Most notably the Bureau of Labor StatisticsGoverning and Gov Central. Now these websites game us the raw data. Thankfully, the rest was quite easy. We looked at the percent of total employment by each government agency and picked the top 6 with the highest percentage. The reasoning behind this is that agencies that employ more people are easier to get a job with, generally speaking. We were only able to find data up to the fiscal year 2013, so this is what we are going with. However, we are merely talking in relative terms. Getting any job let alone a government job is not easy, and you must work hard for it.
