8. Yellow Mountains

This is one of the top destinations for anyone visiting China. If you’re looking for the king of sunrises, this is the spot. A rocky terrain makes for an interesting landscape, and the hidden forest’s hot springs are a great getaway.

7. Shanghai

New York, Paris, it’s all comparable to this megalopolis. Modern, chic, cultural, historic, and more. The cultural fusion that’s Shanghai is apparent in its colonial architecture. The Bund is a waterfront skyline with modern and colonial buildings and is a must visit during your time here, as well as the Jade Buddha Temple and Huangpu River cruise.

6. Xi’an

If you want ancient history, then Xi’an is the place to head to. This city and former capital has the presence of incredibly ancient and historic relics from 200 BC! The Ancient City Wall and the Great Mosque are highlights and for more antiquity, the prehistoric museum and the Terracotta Army are surely interesting.

5. Hangzhou

This place is often compared to heaven, so is there much else that needs to be said? The exquisite lake with its clear reflections of the surrounding, the extraordinary temples, and the tea houses lining the banks of the rivers, are its draw. It’s impossible to not feel like you are in heaven while you’re here. If you can break the spell for a day taking a wander through China’s National Silk Museum and National Tea Museum are worth it.

4. Gansu

Echoing Sand Mountain and the Crescent Lake are something that shouldn’t be in China. Get yourself out to the Gobi desert in the northwest and give your head a shake, because you will think you’re seeing things. Ride up on a camel, echo your voice in the sandy hills, and admire the incredible gardens. This is a super unique way to see China.

3. Hainan

Here is your Chinese beach getaway. Perhaps another thing that you often wouldn’t relate to China, but you should. There are luxury resorts flanking the sand beaches and beautiful waters for surfers, water sport-lovers and swimmers.

2. Beijing

Here is the capital of China and all its glory. Famous for its attractions, the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square, this spot is nothing short of brilliant. What a modern cosmopolitan city that still holds its history close. It’s an incredible mix and the historical places of interest are a good juxtaposition to its high-class shopping and entertainment centers.

Get a bit spiritual before you leave China and experience Tibet. This is the center of religion and culture for Tibetans and its name even means, “place of the gods.” The monasteries and palaces here are world famous for good reason and are absolutely magnificent.
