Africa is known to be a continent that has vast natural resources yet the poorest countries in Africa by 2015 GDP just shows that the countries may still be a long way from improvement. There are various reasons why some of the countries in Africa have remained poor. There are some countries in South Africa that has shown progress and there are also some people in Africa that can be considered quite wealthy.
Some of the reasons why the countries in Africa have remained poor is because of government corruption. According to reports, governments in Africa just get all the money that are supposed to be spent on people’s benefits. As a result, a lot of people in Africa are not exposed to health benefits. A lot of people in Africa do not even have clean water to drink. This is alarming to people from different countries since water is one of the vital things that people need in order to survive.

Madagascar may be able to live through agriculture but one of the primary reasons why Madagascar thrives is because of its tourism. More than half of the population in Madagascar is suffering from living beyond the recommended means.

While there are some African countries that are poor because of the corrupt government, one of the contributing factors why Niger is poor is because of its location. Most of the land here in this country is made out of desert. This makes it hard to do any type of agricultural work that could have helped increase the income that people receive every day.
5. Liberia – $716.04
Although this is one country in Africa that was not colonized by any European country in the past, it has gone through so much war and problems that have killed people. Its government has managed to remain stable since the year 2005 but a lot of its population can still be considered very poor because of the amount of money that are available to them even after doing their work.

There are a lot of people who are living in Zimbabwe who are not even expected to reach the age of 35 because this country is plagued with sickness and disease. A whopping 20% of the total population of Zimbabwe is positive with the HIV virus that can eventually lead to AIDS. Help has been coming in to help this country.

Since Eritrea was one of the countries exposed when the Suez Canal was first opened to the public. Some countries did not waste time in trying to colonize the country. One of the main reasons why this African country is poor is because of the civil war. The legal system of this country can be considered not that effective. Its educational system cannot be considered good either. Although this country is known for selling coffee, a lot of children who live in Burundi are considered to be malnourished.

The average incomes of people who are living in Malawi are far lower than the income that people would expect from a country with rich natural resources. While more than a decade ago, it has managed to receive help from different donors, the donations stopped because of the high corruption in this body.
