5 Largest Wind Energy Companies in the World

4. Enercon

Total capacity of the pipeline in 2019 (in MW): 20,975.99

The largest wind energy company in Germany is not the largest in Europe, and Enercon has been the market leader in wind energy in Germany since the mid 1990s and seems to be in no mood of letting up at all. The company was founded back in 1984, and has production facilities in Germany, Brazil, Turkey, India, Portugal, Canada and Sweden. Even back in 2017, the company had installed more than 26,300 wind turbines, whose power generating capacity was greater than 43 GW. The company is famous for its distinct drop shaped wind turbines, which are quite unique. It is also one of the few companies in our list of largest wind energy companies in the world which does not offer offshore projects and has previously even expressed skepticism of the use of offshore wind parks.
