11 Most Faithful States in America

Getting married may be easy and staying married may be hard but these 11 most faithful states in America show us that it can be done. With so many dating sites available on the web, finding a partner has never been this convenient. However, sticking with the same partner is another story altogether.

We’ve looked at the 11 most adulterous states in America in our previous blog and based our data on Ashley Madison’s hacked site where married people find ways to cheat. The good news is there are also faithful states in the US and they are the ones with the lowest divorce rates and lowest spenders in the controversial site. So not all hope is lost!

We curated our list from the National Marriage and Divorce Rate Trends by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics (ranked from highest to lowest divorce rates) and Business Insider’s list from Ashley Madison that was reanalyzed by data scientist Jake Popham (ranked from highest to lowest spenders). We averaged the ranking of the states to see the correlation between the divorce rates and the spending on the infamous cheating website. We also referred to United States Census Bureau for more data.

If you’re looking for possibly lesser heartaches and higher chances of staying married for a long period of time, then you better check out these states!

11. New Mexico

New Mexico ranked 43rd in Ashley Madison and 15th in the CDC list with a divorce rate of 3.6%. The coastal state is one of the lowest spenders in the infidelity site. Their divorce rate is a little over the 3.4% median among the 50 states. Out of its 2,085,572 population, 47.7% of males are married, and 11.6% are divorced. Meanwhile, 44.3% of females are married, and 14.2% are divorced. Their low spending on the cheating site shows that adultery may not be one of the main reasons why couples divorce in the state.

10. Oregon

Oregon ranks 40th in the cheating site and 21st in the divorce rate. This coastal state is also one of the lowest spenders on the Ashley Madison site. It has a divorce rate of 3.4% which is the average rate in the US. Out of its 3,970,239 population, 50.9% of males are married, and 11.8% are divorced while 48.4% of females are married and 14.6% are divorced.

Oregon has one of the lowest median incomes in the country at $50,251. The average household income in the US is at $52,230. Financial struggles can hit marriages in a big way and could be one of the reasons for the divorces in the state. Mental illness can also be attributed to the divorces in Oregon with one out of four adults reported to have some mental disorder—the highest in the country. In this case, we see that being unfaithful is not a primary reason for the separations.

9. Montana

Montana ranked 42nd in Ashley Madison and 19th in the divorce rate. The “Big Sky Country” is another low spender on the famous third party site. Like Oregon, it has a 3.4% divorce rate which is average in the country. Out of its 1,023,579 population, 52.6% of males are married, and 11.9% are divorced. Meanwhile, 51.6% of females are married, and 14.2% are divorced.

Montana has one of the highest numbers of people getting married. In 2014, almost 72% of the state’s residents were married or divorced. The volume of their married couples can also be the reason for their median divorce rate. However, the people of Montana are not interested in looking for partners in a cheating website. They can remain faithful, but other factors can weaken their marriages.

8. Maine

Ranking 47th on the Ashley Madison site, Maine is the third lowest spending state in the cheating portal. For that, Maine deserves to be named as one of the 11 most faithful states in America. It currently has a divorce rate of 3.6%, ranking 14th on the CDC list. Out of its 1,330,089 population, 52.7% of males are married, and 12.8% are divorced while 49.4% of females are married and 15.0% are divorced.

Economic factors may be one of the reasons why couples divorce with the state averaging only $46,974 in median household income, making it is one of the lowest in the US. Financial burdens affect marriages in an unprecedented way. Maine isn’t also fond of kids with only 37% of households with children. Couples with kids tend to delay or hold off the divorce. But if you don’t have bundles of joy to keep you together, that can make the separation easier. However, infidelity is definitely not a major reason.
