When: July 4, 1954, World Cup Final

Where: Wankdorf Stadium in Bern, Switzerland

How: 8 minutes into the most important match of the most important event in soccer, West Germany was already losing by two goals; Hungary was performing as everyone had expected. Yet then, something incredible happened, and by halftime, the German team had managed to get even. Finally, when the match was 6 minutes away from being over, Helmut Rahn scored Germany’s third goal. This dramatic victory is known as the Miracle of Bern.
