7. Cabrits National Park

Here are the remains of Fort Shortly for your dose of antiquity on the island, this was an 18th century fortress. This is a great attraction, but the beauty lies within the parks natural wonders. Diving and snorkeling are here for the water lovers, and those in need of a panoramic vista can go up to the view points.

 

6. Roseau

Here is the capital of the tiny island, but this is quite the bustling town for the small country. Here are where the cruise ships dock and it can get quite crowded here during the busy seasons. Conch shells are used as horns to signal that fresh fish is available for sale, and the Old Market teems with sweetness as it’s full of fresh fruit for purchase. There are a few buildings of interest like the St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral.

5. Champagne Reef

What’s it like to swim in champagne? Have you ever wondered? While it’s unlikely anyone will actually make a pool of champagne, you’re in luck because this reef doesn’t get its name without good reason. Get your snorkeling or diving gear on and jump in! Here you will not only be swimming with excellent tropical marine life, but with bubbles that seep out from the ocean floor due to the geothermal activity in the region, giving you that “I’m swimming in champagne!” feel.

4. Victoria Waterfall

Don’t let the hike over here deter you, we can assure you it’s worth your efforts. This incredible waterfall falls off a cliff and down into a refreshing pool of water at the bottom. This is a fantastic photo opportunity if you ever had one, but bring a waterproof camera.

 

3. Trafalgar Falls

Is there ever a time to say, “OK, I had enough waterfalls!” I hope not, because Dominica has plenty and Trafalgar is a must see. this duo of falls is a spectacular sight to see and certainly refreshing after exploring the tropical island all day.

2. Morne Trois Pitons National Park

Here’s the interior of the island and all of its glory. Wild orchid, ferns in a frenzy, thick jungle, hot springs, mini geysers, and more are just a few of the magnificent attractions in this lush mountainous area. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it includes the Boiling Lake as well. With so much to see at this one spot, it’s definitely one of the best places to see in Dominica before you die.

1. Scott’s Head

Dive right in, snorkel around, or just swim in this coral-ridden bay. These are some rocky waters, so be careful, and only dive alone if you are well-trained as this is a difficult dive. If you’re not into swimming around today, Scott’s Head is worth the few minutes it takes to clammer up to the very top of the hill to get the magical panoramic views of the islands and the nearby town.
