There are plenty of famous gates in the world; each unique in its own way.  Despite getting constructed in the older times, they stand tall and reflect engineering brilliance.

Although there is a long list of gates in the world, very few are frequently visited by the tourists. Siegestor, Arch of Constantine and Arc De Triumph are amongst the most popular names but there is one more  thing that is common amongst them – they are also the biggest in the world. 5. Siegestor (Victory Gate) in Munich, Germany

Germany is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countries to visit in Europe. There is a lot of history and some extraordinary historic monuments to look at. Out of all these famous monuments stands Siegestor, also known as the Victory Gate. The gate was constructed to pay tribute to the Bavarian Army. Today it is one of the most famous monuments in the city of Munich and reminds people of peace. The monument is about 21 meters in height and 24 meters in width.

4. Arch of Constantine in Rome, Italy

If there is one country filled with historical monuments, it is Italy and if you happen to be in Rome, you don’t need to know a lot, the city will explain itself. When you think about Rome the first thing that comes to mind is Colosseum but there is more. Arch of Constantine is also one of the major monuments you will see in the city of Rome.  It was built to celebrate Constantine 1st victory in the Battle of Milvian Bridge against Maxentius in 312. The inauguration of the arch was held three years later. The monument is just about 21 meter in height and is recognized as one of the famous monuments in Rome.

3. Arc De Triumph in Paris, France

If you are in Paris you simply cannot miss Arc De Triumph. It is by far one of the most popular and visited monuments in the city. Despite being in the same city as Eiffel tower, the gate still remains a major attraction for tourists from all over the world.  It was constructed to honor those who died in the Napoleonic Wars and French Revolutionary while fighting for France. The gate has names of all French generals and victories inscribed on it. Arc de Triumph is about 50 meters high and was constructed way back in the 1806-1836. The monument is ranked 3rd in the list of 5 Biggest Gates in the World.

2. Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang, North Korea

Talk about triumphal Arches, well then there is no taller than this one. Situated in the city of Pyongyang, the arch was built to show respect to the resistance shown by Koreans against Japan from 1925 to 1945; it is about 50 meters high. The arch also pays respect to the President Kim Sung, for his bravery in the armed resistance.

1. The Gateway Arch, in Saint Louis

Only those who have been to Saint Louis, Missouri will tell you how great it is. Undoubtedly, it is the most prominent monument in the downtown Saint Louis. It is the tallest ever monument made by men in the US, and also the tallest arch in the world. The arch is made of stainless steel, which makes it stand out in the city.  You can go right at the top with the help of a tram and take an aerial view of Saint Louis. The monument is tall 190m (630-foot) which makes it number one in the list of 5 Biggest Gates in the World.
