Sold on may 2007 at Maranello in Italy the car was built on a unique chassis and tweaked components for extra power. The car began racing in America until crashed by Roger Penske in 1963.

The 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster was sold in October 2007 in London. Ferdinand Porsche’s engineering allowed this car to run on the basis of 540K, Kompressor. The car won a few awards until it was bought in 1995 and sold at an auction in 2007.
