Nowadays, an overwhelming number of businesses use Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) for their advertising purposes, but some are better at it than others. But how can one judge how good a company is performing of Facebook? Well, we see no better way than by taking into account the number of “likes” each company page received. The number of likes a business account receives indicated how many people are actually interested in the brand and are keeping up with that particular company’s updates.

Following, we would like to present you with a list we have compiled of the top 10 brands on Facebook in the US, ranked according to the number of likes received from residents of the United States. The countdown is based on the statistics issued by Socialbakers and Mashable. We have also included the percentage of total followers the number of US fans represents.

The top 2 brands on Facebook, at least for US users, are two retailers – Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) and Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT). Walmart emerged as the undisputed leader with a whopping 31.1 million US followers, which also account for 94% of the company’s total number of fans on the social network. Target’s US followers, 21.1 million in total, also represent the majority of fans the company has generated on Facebook. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), the biggest online retailer wraps up our top three, with 19.1 million US followers, who also represent most of the company’s total number of fans; 94% to be more exact. Judging by the looks of this top three, it appears that US Facebook users surely like their shopping.

Moving further down the list, we have The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO), with 11.9 million US followers. However, unlike our three retailers, Coca-Cola’s US fan base only represents 16% of the total number of followers the company has on Facebook.
