It’s no secret that there are so many places to visit in the Bahamas befre you die. With over 700 islands clustered in the blue waters of the Atlantic, it’s not surprising that the magical gems that float in this sea are teeming with marine wildlife beyond your imagination. The experiences of swimming around the variety of species taking up these waters will last a life time. Tropical fish, to hammerhead sharks, and vibrant coral adorning the seabeds are what’s waiting for you below the surface.

A measly 45 miles away from Miami, FL is the game fishing capital of the archipelago. With that said, fishing is a rewarding experience, and so is snorkeling and diving if you’re not catching dinner yet. Tons of reefs, wrecks, and shark hang out spots will all be on the list to dive into.

7. Lucayan National Park

This national  park holds quite a few treasures. Located here is the longest underwater cave system made of limestone on earth. The rock formations are perplexing, the mangroves are adventurous to kayak through, and the beaches are just as beautiful as ever.

6. Elbow Cay

What a chilled out village atmosphere this spot exudes. There’s no hustle and bustle here, mostly thanks to the pedestrian-friendliness of the town, no cars allowed here! A New England-styled center is quite charming with stripy lighthouses and fishing boats bobbing at the marinas.

5. Exuma Cays Lands and Sea National Park

This is a remote part of the Bahama archipelago, and it’s one of the most protected. Don’t even think about touching any of the marine life, and you’re certainly not bringing anything home, nope, not even a shell! There’s not even fishing allowed in these waters. This must equal one amazing place to visit though. The sense of it being untouched is incredible, the visibility is sometimes over 100 feet, and the marine animals are abundant.

4. Green Turtle Cay

Here’s a sleepy charming fishing village to throw you back in a time warp. This simple and tiny 3-mile island is surely your spot to get away from it all. Diving, snorkeling and the like should be expected, you can get some nice views on a boat ride, and at night, you feast on freshly caught conch.

3. Treasure Cay

Fishing tournaments are what make this island rise in popularity, which means more great beaches with water activities to delight all visitors. Of course just hanging out on the powdery white sand beaches that run into the blue ocean water is totally fine, too!

2. Andros Island

Ah, you thought you’ve seen it all, but you have no idea. Behold the third largest barrier reef on earth. Besides breathtaking views above, you will certainly need to see below the water’s surface Take a refreshing dip in the freshwater pool or take an adventurous route through the underwater caves. The island’s native wildlife and jungles make for an added feature, and when staying on Andros, an eco-resort is the way to go.
