Legend has it that Noah docked his boat here, and when you see the plethora of wildlife that is roaming this land, you might even believe that claim. Mount Gorongosa has rich forest flanking all sides, and has a river running around it. The mountain is sacred to the locals, and despite the fact that this was once a war torn area that was teeming with poachers, it’s now protected and holds an astounding array of biodiversity.

4. Cahora Bassa Lake

This is the second largest manmade lake on the continent, and the fishing is fantastic. If that isn’t your cup of tea, just take a little cruise around the lake and enjoy the breathtaking views of the picturesque landscapes. Mountains, wildlife, gorges, and sunsets to swoon over is what you can expect.

 

3. Tofo Beach

This area might remind you of the beaches of Goa, India as it’s teeming with young travelers and a laid back hippy vibe is reverberating throughout. The seafood feast you will have here will be second to none as it’s as fresh as can be. To get a dose of history without leaving the coastline behind, this is the island to head to. This island was on the old trading route to India. The old architecture of the Portuguese are definitely obvious in the area and have been here since the 16th century. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and despite there being other buildings of historical interest here, don’t think there aren’t any nice beaches to relax on after.
