The most common form of mental illness in Mexico is depression. Surveys showed that 1 out of 8 Mexicans suffers from mental illness and that half of Mexico’s population suffered a depressive episode in that year. 12-month prevalence study showed that 12.1% of participants suffered from mental illness and the causes were closely connected with income, and those with lower income were more likely to be diagnosed with mental disorder.
