Someone has to answer the questions which are the countries with the ugliest women in the world, so it might well be us.

Let’s first get one thing straight. Beauty (or ugliness) is a primarily subjective thing. People are different, both in a way they look and the way they think. The saying that beauty is “in the eye of the beholder” is really true, and we are not saying that in order to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. There are some cases where most people will agree that something or someone is beautiful (Jessica Alba anyone?). But even in such cases, there will always be someone who thinks otherwise.

What is beauty and what makes someone beautiful? Scientists have tried to come up with the answer to this question for a long time now. Even Ancient Greeks attempted to get to the roots of beauty. Numerous ancient philosophers gave their takes on beauty, arguing that beauty exists in form and is embodied in the spirit.

Every once and a while, another theory, study or research pops up, claiming it revealed what beauty means or how it can be determined. One of the most commonly repeated theories is that beauty lies in symmetry and that we perceive symmetrical things as beautiful. This theory is closely linked to the facial symmetry. Various studies and researches showed that more symmetrical faces in both females and men are viewed as more attractive by others. Scientists argue that the reason why we look at symmetrical faces as more beautiful is that they are a sign of health and good genes. It gets more complicated. Some studies have shown that average faces are more attractive. People will think that average looking faces are more beautiful than the faces that look distinctive. So, if someone tells you that you look average, embrace it. That means you are been called beautiful. When we talk about the beauty of women, in particular, we should note that the culture plays a big part of it.  Different cultures have different standards of beauty. For example, in Western cultures including the United States, a woman who has a bronze skin and curved body with large breasts is considered more beautiful and attractive. On the other side, in Eastern cultures like China, slim women with big eyes and pale skin are standard of beauty. Then you have African standards of beauty that include body modifications which are unattractive to many outsiders, but appreciated by Africans.

In order to create our list of countries with the ugliest women in the world, we decided to turn to the Beautiful People, a dating site that only accepts people that are beautiful. This website works in a simple way. People that apply for membership of the site are voted by existing users as beautiful or not. If an applicant receives the majority of “beautiful” votes in 48 hours, he/she is in. We used Beautiful People’s data about the acceptance rates of women users from various countries. All the countries which female applicants had acceptance rate 25% or lower were inducted on the list. It is important to note that the site doesn’t have many users from the Middle East and Africa, so the data is incomplete. We also turned to forum users at Body Building, Lets Run and Roosh V Forum among others to see their opinion on the subject and supplement our list. It turned out that even the forum users in some way agree about the ugliness of women in some countries. Of course, this list should be taken lightly, and you shouldn’t base your opinion about the country’s beauty on it. We recommend visiting the country and then making up your mind. 15. African Countries: Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia

There were no African countries among the Beautiful People statistics, so we got this entry from the forum users. Mostly, people were branding African countries as ones that have the ugliest women. For some reason, users have labeled women from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia as ugly. This could be related to the cultural differences mentioned earlier in the article.

14. Peru

Another country that ended up on our list thanks to forum users is Peru. Multiple forum threads have singled our Peruvian women as ugly. But there were also some positive opinions that claimed women from Peru are incredibly sexy.

13. Canada

Acceptance Rate: 24%

We are going to the great white North with our list of Countries with the ugliest women in the world. Everyone’s favorite neighbors, Canadian women, and men seemed to be almost equally perceived in terms of beauty. While Canadian women had 24% acceptance rate, men achieved 23%. Is it the cold or?

12. Turkey

Acceptance Rate: 23%

The number 12 on our list of countries with the ugliest women in the world, Turkey, shows that the weather doesn’t have anything to do with the beauty. Women and men from Turkey also are not too far in terms of acceptance.  Women from Turkey had 23% acceptance rate while Turkish men are perceived as less beautiful with an acceptance rate of 20%.

11. Spain

Acceptance Rate: 22%

Surprisingly, Spanish men are viewed as more beautiful than the Spanish women. Male users achieved an acceptance rate of 25% while women came at 22%. It looks like Penelope Cruz has set the bar pretty high.

10. Australia

Acceptance Rate: 21%

With all those handsome Australian actors like Chris Hemsworth, you would think that other Australian men are not far behind. Turns out they are, since only 20% of Australian men got accepted compared to 21% of women.

9. Argentina

Acceptance Rate: 19%

Another entry on our list of countries with the ugliest women in the world has more attractive men than female population. Only 19% of Argentinian women that applied to the site got accepted compared to 28% of men. Some people think that the reason why Argentinian women are considered less beautiful is due to the fact that Argentina is the land of immigrants, and there are lots of genes being mixed. To others, this only makes their women more beautiful.

8. Mexico

Acceptance Rate: 19%

This is another surprise on the list. If you watched Mexican telenovelas, you probably thought Mexican women are insanely hot. Well, according to the members of Beautiful People, that’s not the case with all of them. The data we used didn’t contain the acceptance rate of Mexican men.

7. Portugal

Acceptance Rate: 16%

Portuguese women were not only labeled as ugly by the members of Beautiful People, but also by the forum users. On the other hand, we came across on some claims that this is just a stereotype spread by Brazilians, and that Portuguese women are gorgeous. Male population obviously had it better, since 37% of men from Portugal got accepted and no one is spreading rumors about their ugliness. 6. India

Acceptance Rate: 16%

Indian women are generally viewed as exotic and stunningly beautiful, having been crowned 5 times as Miss World. Turns out, this only goes for models and actresses since just 16% of Indian women who applied to Beautiful People got accepted to the site. They still did better compared to men who only managed to get 15% acceptance rate.

5. Lithuania

We don’t know about Lithuanian men, but women surely had it tough trying to get access to the site, since only 15% of them was approved. Surprisingly, there is no data about other Eastern Europe countries.

4. South Korea

Acceptance Rate: 15%

South Korean models are causing a major buzz in the Western world, for their unusual beauty. It turns out that members of Beautiful People are not really ready for that, accepting only 15% of female applicants from the country. Men from South Korea did a bit better since 18% of them were labeled as beautiful enough.

3. China

Acceptance Rate: 15%

Both women and men from China are surely a bit depressed and angry with the Beautiful People site. Women especially, since 15% of them got accepted. That’s why Chinese women ended up on our list of countries with the ugliest women in the world. Like in South Korea, men got a better result with 17%. It looks like cultural differences strike again.

2. The United Kingdom

Acceptance Rate: 15%

Both genders from the UK were rated poorly, with 15% women being considered beautiful compared to 12% of men. So why are Brits considered less beautiful than the rest of the world? Well, according to Beautiful People’s  managing director Greg Hodge, people from Britain don’t polish their appearance enough and are considered less glamorous. Knowing the Brits, they probably don’t care and will just order another pint.

1. Germany

Acceptance Rate: 13%

We are at the end of our list of countries with the ugliest women in the world, and it is safe to say that people around the globe don’t have a high appreciation of German women. They are possibly viewed as a bit stiff and intimidating like their Chancellor Angela Merkel. The opinions of forum users about the beauty of women from Germany were also not too high.  Obviously, they didn’t hear about Heidi Klum or Claudia Schiffer. German men don’t have much to be proud of either since only 15% of them got accepted to the site.
