11 Most Hated Companies in America in 2017

2. Monsanto Company (NYSE:MON) –Total Score: 30 Hate Points

On my recent list of the 10 Most Interesting Companies in the World, I stated that Monsanto (which ranked 9th on that list) would probably rank highly on a list of most hated companies in America in 2017 if we ever did such a list. Well, here it is, and Monsanto does indeed rank highly, landing in second spot. While it did not land on 24/7 Wall St.’s list (no company had the dubious distinction of making all 3 lists), it ranked second on Sigwatch’s list and fifth on The Harris Poll’s list. While its reputation score on the latter list has improved somewhat following Monsanto’s campaign to raise public acceptance of GMOs, the company is still one of the most hated and distrusted in the world. Monsanto often bears the brunt of the criticism surrounding GMOs and agrichemicals in general, as it’s come to be the poster child for the industry.
