In 2009, the singer became unconscious in his own bed in the Los Angeles home he was renting. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and he was ultimately pronounced dead. The cause of death was cardiac arrest induced by intoxication with propofol and benzodiazepine and his doctor, Conrad Murray, was put on trial and later found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
