Must See TV: The 9 Most Anticipated Shows of 2015

As we are getting ready to welcome yet another year, we decided to rank the most anticipated shows of 2015.  Our list includes all kinds of upcoming series that are generating a huge buzz: drama, comedy, sci-fi, comic book-inspired, spin-offs, you name, we’re in on it. There’s even some rock ‘n’ roll as well. 2015 comes with new entertainment ammunition for every kind of audience, and some long-awaited efforts too.

Most Anticipated Shows of 2015

Personally, I believe that most of the shows on this list are destined to become T.V. hits, though a few are risky ventures that could either make it or break it.  There’s no exact recipe for success, but maybe by analyzing some of the most popular and profitable series that have ever aired we could draw some conclusions. Bearing this in mind, make sure you check out our list on the Top 10 Most Profitable TV Shows.

Let’s take a look at the countdown and find out which are the most anticipated shows of 2015.

9. Daredevil

The latest addition to the Marvel universe is set to premiere in May 2015. The upcoming series was developed for Netflix Inc (NFLX) and has high expectations; producers hope it will do better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has done so far. Just like in the Marvel comic, Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) is a blind lawyer who uses his overdeveloped senses to fight crime at night.

 Most Anticipated Shows of 2015

If a new Marvel series can just barely crack the list of most anticipated shows of 2015, you just know it’s going to be a great year. Check out the other exciting shows coming out in 2015 on the next pages.

8. Roadies

Cameron Crowe, the renowned director of films like Almost Famous and Elizabethtown, is exploring the television world for the first time in both writing and directing. The pilot for this comedy was picked up by Showtime, and the show will have the legendary J.J. Abrams among its executive producers. Although there’s still no set date for its premiere (hopefully sometime next year), the show is already one of the most anticipated. The plot? Well, Roadies will explore the life of the road crew of a touring band; pure rock from within.

7. Preacher

With Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg backing the project as executive producers and pilot writers, Preacher is one of the most long-awaited upcoming T.V. series, especially by fans of the original comic book. The show, that will be aired by AMC, tells the story of Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher who is determined to find God, who has apparently left heaven to combat supernatural evil.

6. Ballers

Created by Steve Levinson, this upcoming HBO comedy series will revolve around a group of current and retired football players, their friends, their families and their lives. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be starring and executive producing the show. Another renowned executive producer will be Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg, who you may remember teamed up with The Rock on the film Pain & Gain. Let’s hope their attempt at a TV series turns out better than that film; and we think it will.

5. American Gods

Based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, American Gods will finally see the light of the small screen thanks to FremantleMedia. The drama-fantasy show will be broadcast by Starz and has Bryan Fuller and Michael Green in its writing team. The concept of this series is quite interesting: a war between the ‘old’ gods, every deity biblical or mythological ever worshiped by humankind, and the ‘new’ gods of money, technology, celebrity and other loved entities of modern times.

4. Westworld

This science fiction thriller, which will be aired by HBO next year, is a T.V. adaptation of the 1973 film of the same name. The amazing cast of Westworld includes high-end stars such as Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris and James Marsden. Pure sci-fi, the show tells the story of two guests at a Western-themed futuristic amusement park.

3. Narcos

Directed by Brazilian filmmaker José Padilha, the crime drama’s ten episodes will be aired at once by Netflix sometime next year. Starring Brazilian actor Wagner Moura as Pablo Escobar, and Chilean actor Pedro Pascal (recently of Game of Thrones fame, where he was outstanding as Oberyn Martell) as its antagonist, a DEA agent, Narcos centers on the criminal exploits of the Colombian drug lord and his cartel.

2. Better Call Saul

The long-awaited AMC show, a spin-off of the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed Breaking Bad, centers on the life of lawyer Saul Goodman in Albuquerque years before taking up Walter White as a client of his shady firm. Better Call Saul, which is set to air February 8th, will also explore events during and after the original series, so chances are we will see Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul once again playing their original characters.

1. Untitled HBO Rock ‘N’ Roll Project

The as-yet-untitled HBO project is without a doubt the most anticipated show to be aired next year, especially since it has Martin Scorsese directing the pilot, Terence Winter writing it, Mick Jagger producing it, and George Mastras as its show-runner. As if all that weren’t enough, the show’s stars include Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple and Ray Romano. Big Hollywood names aside, the plot itself is definitely interesting: a record executive is trying to resurrect his label during the decadent sexual and drug-filled music scene of New York City in the 1970’s.
