We couldn’t find any free French classes NYC, but there are some cheap French classes in NYC. Can you really put a price on learning a new language though?

In order to create our list today, we checked out Class Curious, which is a site where you can find a bunch of classes that you might be interested in taking in your free time. We also used good old Google for more options to make sure we have you properly covered. Once we had our list we checked each tuition and how many hours the money covered. We then divided the tuition by the number of hours to see just how the classes compared.

That being said, here are the 5 best French language classes in NYC.

5. ABC Languages

Tuition: $275

Over at ABC Languages, you can choose from a wide range of languages to learn, from Arabic, to German, Korean to Russian and so on. They also teach French classes, because, with such a wide selection, it would be just weird not to.

They cover multiple skill levels, from total beginners to advanced learners. The beginners class, for instance, is designed for those that have little to no background in French and you can choose whether to take classes for 6, 8 or 12 weeks. Sessions take place once a week and last for 1 and a half hours, with each class needing to have at least 4 students. The 6-week program costs $275, the 8-week program $350 and the 12-week program $475.

4. City SpeakEasy

Tuition: $395

Up next we have City SpeakEasy, a place that offers classes in multiple languages, from Italian, to German, Japanese or Arabic.

Tuition costs $395 and it covers 16 hours of group course strewn over 8 weeks. You’ll also get to participate in an immersion event where you can test out your newly acquired French skills in real-life, in order to learn more. The tuition also covers the learning materials, which is great because many other locations don’t provide them.

Class sizes are kept small, with a maximum number of students of 10, so you can all have enough attention from the teachers.

3. Fluent City

Tuition: $399

Up next is Fluent City, where you can also study a bunch of new languages, such as Spanish, Hebrew, or Chinese. French, of course, is also on the list.

The location offers multiple types of classes, depending on your skill level, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced. For each category, they offer different classes.

Each course costs $399, plus a $40 textbook. The courses include 10 sessions that last two hours each, and you can choose when to start the class to best fit your schedule.

2. French Language Salon

Tuition: $360

Next up on our list is the French Language Salon, a place that offers not only group classes, but also private lessons, test prep and even classes in France, if you want to learn the language while traveling the country.

The group classes are offered for all skill levels, so you can certainly find something to suit you. You can take most classes either by going to class once a week for 10 weeks, or taking two weekly classes for five weeks in the “Accelerate” version.

You’ll learn common greetings, notions about dining, shopping or banking, how to get around when you need medical help or in emergencies. Courses cost $360, although they also have comprehensive versions where you’ll attend twice per week for the 10-week course, which goes for $660.

1. French Institute

Tuition: $355

At the top of our list, we have the French Institute: Alliance Francaise, which offers French lessons for all ages, whether we’re talking about toddlers, kids, teens, or adults.

Group classes can last for 11 weeks, 5 weeks, or, if you want, you can also pick intensive courses that last for one or two weeks.

The French 101 for Total Beginners classes, for instance, costs $615 if you choose to sit in 3 hours per week for 11 weeks. A leisurely-paced class that lasts for 11 weeks, spending 1.5 hours per week in class goes for $355.
