30 Least Peaceful Countries in the World in 2024

In this article, we will go over the 30 least peaceful countries in the world in 2024

Peace and economic prosperity are intertwined. Together, peace and prosperity form a virtuous cycle. The more peaceful a country is, the better its chances of enhancing its economic condition. On the other hand, a stable economy and a prospering nation ensure peace. The reverse of this situation is also true. Deteriorating peace and increasing violence hurts economic prosperity. On the other hand, declining economic conditions hurt peace. As per remarks by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former Managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), peace is a necessary condition for trade.

The United States ranks low on Vision of Humanity’s Global Peace Index. The country has seen a huge decline in its ranking since 2009. According to the organization, the United States has seen a 150% degradation in the quality of information sub-category of the rankings. This subcategory measures the dissemination of false or misleading information domestically. However, despite the United States ranking low on the Peace Index, the country’s actual peace level is much higher. United State’s armed forces are involved in external conflicts, which hurt the peace index ranking.

The peace situation all over the world has been deteriorating. On the European side, the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to claim innocent lives. The Middle East is in the grip of conflicts that claim innocent lives every day. The conflict between Israel and Palestine is also affecting millions of people.

Generally, European countries are the most peaceful in the world. Iceland is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, and it has topped the Vision of Humanity’s Peace Index since 2008. Other countries that often top the index are Denmark, Iceland, New Zealand, and Austria. On the other hand of the spectrum are countries such as Afghanistan, Yemen, and Syria, which consistently rank low on the index. African countries also do not fare so well in terms of peace. The democratic republic of Congo is one of the least peaceful countries in the world. The recent wars and conflicts have also hurt the ranking of many countries. This is especially true for Ukraine which has seen the largest drop in peace level in recent years. Then, there is the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), which has seen the greatest deterioration in terms of peace.

In the wake of violent conflicts, defense spending globally has increased. According to SIPRI, in 2022, global military spending increased by 3.7%. All the countries in the world spent a combined $2.2 trillion on defense. The Russia-Ukraine conflict made many European countries conscious about their security too. The peaceful European countries expanded their military budgets following the war as European military expenditure increased by 13% in 2022.

While deteriorating peace and increasing violence are bad news for the economy, it is good news for defense industries. The business of defense industries has been improving recently because of ongoing conflicts. It was one of the least impacted industries by the pandemic, as it maintained a stable growth rate. According to The Business Research Company, the global defense market expanded from $534.79 billion to $577.19 billion between the years 2022 and 2023, showing an annual compound growth rate of 7.9%. By the end of 2027, the market is expected to grow to $718.12 billion, depicting a compound annual growth rate of 5.6% from 2023 to 2027.

With that backdrop, let’s look at some of the least peaceful countries in the world.

Methodology

We compiled the list of the 30 least peaceful countries in the world in 2024, using the latest Peace Index Ranking by Vision of Humanity. It is the most widely accepted ranking throughout the world. The index uses 23 indicators of peace to score each country based on three domains. These domains are Ongoing domestic and internal conflict, Societal safety and security, and militarization. The higher the score, the less peaceful the country is.

30 – Palestine

Global Peace Index Score – 2.583

Although Palestine is the 30th least peaceful country on our list right now, going into 2024, it will be ranked much higher on this list. The Israel-Palestine conflict has claimed thousands of lives on both sides and continues to do so. According to Reuters, more than 17,0000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7th, 2023. In addition, more than 2 million people have become homeless and are trapped in a tiny coastal enclave with a limited supply of food, water, and medical care.

29 – Lebanon

Global Peace Index Score – 2.581

Lebanon has been in the grip of a liquidity crisis, which has worsened the peace situation in the country. This crisis was further worsened by the sanctions imposed by the United States targetting Hezbollah and the Syrian government. In 2024, the peace situation in the country is likely to worsen because of the ongoing events in Israel and the Gaza Strip. The country already has violent clashes with Israel, which include almost daily rocket missile fires.

28 – Mexico

Global Peace Index Score – 2.599

Mexico is one of the least peaceful countries in the world in 2024. The country has remained under the grip of organized crimes driven by extortion and retail drug crimes.

26 – Niger

Global Peace Index Score – 2.625

Ongoing internal conflicts have sabotaged peace in Niger. The country is home to some of the most violent organized terrorist groups, such as Boko Haram, which has been persistent in its insurgency since 2009.

25 – Cameroon

Global Peace Index Score – 2.66

There is widespread violence between Cameroon’s government and armed separatists in the country. The civilians in the country regularly face atrocities and violence because of the ongoing conflicts. The anglophone regions of the country are specifically targeted for violence.

23 – Colombia

Global Peace Index Score – 2.693

Unlawful and arbitary killing is a normal occurrence in Columbia. The country is in the grip of violent clashes between the government’s security forces and armed groups, which lead to serious human rights abuse.

Iran has a theocratic presidential system, which maintains an authoritarian hold on its people. Women do not have the same rights as men, and their appearance is heavily taxed. 10 – Iraq

Iraq has been under several war and conflict waves over the past two decades. The downfall of Saddam Hussein’s reign was followed by years of instability and political tensions in the country. AI, Tariffs, Nuclear Power: One Undervalued Stock Connects ALL the Dots (Before It Explodes!)

Artificial intelligence is the greatest investment opportunity of our lifetime. The time to invest in groundbreaking AI is now, and this stock is a steal!

AI is eating the world—and the machines behind it are ravenous.

Each ChatGPT query, each model update, each robotic breakthrough consumes massive amounts of energy. In fact, AI is already pushing global power grids to the brink.

Wall Street is pouring hundreds of billions into artificial intelligence—training smarter chatbots, automating industries, and building the digital future. But there’s one urgent question few are asking:

Where will all of that energy come from?

AI is the most electricity-hungry technology ever invented. Each data center powering large language models like ChatGPT consumes as much energy as a small city. And it’s about to get worse.

Even Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, issued a stark warning:

“The future of AI depends on an energy breakthrough.”

Elon Musk was even more blunt:

“AI will run out of electricity by next year.”

As the world chases faster, smarter machines, a hidden crisis is emerging behind the scenes. Power grids are strained. Electricity prices are rising. Utilities are scrambling to expand capacity.

And that’s where the real opportunity lies…

One little-known company—almost entirely overlooked by most AI investors—could be the ultimate backdoor play. It’s not a chipmaker. It’s not a cloud platform. But it might be the most important AI stock in the US owns critical energy infrastructure assets positioned to feed the coming AI energy spike.

As demand from AI data centers explodes, this company is gearing up to profit from the most valuable commodity in the digital age: electricity.

The “Toll Booth” Operator of the AI Energy Boom

  • It owns critical nuclear energy infrastructure assets, positioning it at the heart of America’s next-generation power strategy.
  • It’s one of the only global companies capable of executing large-scale, complex EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects across oil, gas, renewable fuels, and industrial infrastructure.
  • It plays a pivotal role in U.S. LNG exportation—a sector about to explode under President Trump’s renewed “America First” energy doctrine.

Trump has made it clear: Europe and U.S. allies must buy American LNG.

And our company sits in the toll booth—collecting fees on every drop exported.

But that’s not all…

As Trump’s proposed tariffs push American manufacturers to bring their operations back home, this company will be first in line to rebuild, retrofit, and reengineer those facilities.

AI. Energy. Tariffs. Onshoring. This One Company Ties It All Together.

While the world is distracted by flashy AI tickers, a few smart investors are quietly scooping up shares of the one company powering it all from behind the scenes.

AI needs energy. Energy needs infrastructure.

And infrastructure needs a builder with experience, scale, and execution.

This company has its finger in every pie—and Wall Street is just starting to notice.

Wall Street is noticing this company also because it is quietly riding all of these tailwinds—without the sky-high valuation.

While most energy and utility firms are buried under mountains of debt and coughing up hefty interest payments just to appease bondholders…

This company is completely debt-free.

In fact, it’s sitting on a war chest of cash—equal to nearly one-third of its entire market cap.

It also owns a huge equity stake in another red-hot AI play, giving investors indirect exposure to multiple AI growth engines without paying a premium.

And here’s what the smart money has started whispering…

The Hedge Fund Secret That’s Starting to Leak Out

This stock is so off-the-radar, so absurdly undervalued, that some of the most secretive hedge fund managers in the world have begun pitching it at closed-door investment summits.

They’re sharing it quietly, away from the cameras, to rooms full of ultra-wealthy clients.

Why? Because excluding cash and investments, this company is trading at less than 7 times earnings.

And that’s for a business tied to:

  • The AI infrastructure supercycle
  • The onshoring boom driven by Trump-era tariffs
  • A surge in U.S. LNG exports
  • And a unique footprint in nuclear energy—the future of clean, reliable power

You simply won’t find another AI and energy stock this cheap… with this much upside.

This isn’t a hype stock. It’s not riding on hope.

It’s delivering real cash flows, owns critical infrastructure, and holds stakes in other major growth stories.

This is your chance to get in before the rockets take off!

Disruption is the New Name of the Game: Let’s face it, complacency breeds stagnation.

AI is the ultimate disruptor, and it’s shaking the foundations of traditional industries.
