1. Guinness Bear ($20 million)

The best thing about this ad was not the 5 star budget but the fact that it featured no celebrity or special effects. The beer itself was the star and the commercial had some excellent domino engineering. It is hardly a 2 minute ad, which reveals the brand’s famous tag line “Good things come to those who wait” at the end.

2. George Bush ($14.2 million)

This might come as a surprise to some in our list of most expensive TV commercials ever made. At the time of the tragic incident of World Trade Center, G. W Bush was the president of the United States. In 2004 when Bush had to win the re-election, he ran an emotional TV commercial featuring a little girl whose mother died during the 9/11 tragedy.

3. Aviva Insurance ($13.4 million)

Aviva Insurance in an attempt to educate their customers about their new brand name had to spend as many as $13.4 million. To do this they hired services of various stars like “Walter Willis”, “Damon Furnier”, “Eleanor Gow” etc. What they showed through this commercial was that changing a name should not be a hindrance to success.

4. Chrysler 200 ($9 million)

More than the vehicle or company itself, this commercial was about the comeback of Detroit, as the Motortown. Detroit was once the richest city in America but suffered a huge set back when the automobile industry moved south. The commercial starred “Eminem” and showed how the city has survived the worst of times but came back strongly.

5. Carlton Draught ($9 million)

This ad of the Australian beer makers featured hundreds of sky divers jumping from a plane carrying a huge “Carlton Draught.” This commercial generated huge sales revenue to the company and is ranked number five on our list of most expensive TV commercials ever made.

6. Pepsi Co ($7.53 million)

Probably one of the most talked about super bowl ads ever. It was aired in 2002 and starred the ever gorgeous “Britney Spears” who travelled through time. The ad was successfully able to put the company’s message through and Pepsi decided to retain Britney the following year.

Honda has always been known for their top of the line, affordable vehicle. The company has spent an impressive amount of $6.5 million just to make sure that consumers understand this fact. 9. Go Daddy ($2.4 million)

This one is probably one of the funniest ads in the list, starring the famous diva from World Wrestling Entertainment – “Candice Michelle.” The ad shows sizzling Michelle, directing people who want to buy a domain to visit Go Daddy. This commercial, for some reason got banned by Fox but Go Daddy became the number one site in domain registration few months later.
