What is a flea market? Generally, the term “flea market” is used to describe an outdoor bazaar of sorts, in which a variety of third-party vendors may sell secondhand goods or handmade items. I love taking a nice day trip to the flea market. They always seem like more of an event than a traditional thrift store, and you can walk around all day with a nice weather-appropriate beverage and enjoy the company of the other market-goers. Some of my best thrifted finds include a decorator plate with a picture of a foaming-at-the-mouth pit bull on it, a vintage Christmas holly printed tea set, and a $1 Nekromantix concert tee shirt. I love a good deal, and it’s hard to resist the call of a good flea market.   

In looking for the biggest flea markets on the East Coast, we had to check the web for credible sources on the matter. We found great information from Trip Advisor, Fodors Travel, and Flea Market Insider. Ranking these flea markets was somewhat challenging. To say that a flea market is the “biggest” could be quantified by the size of the venue, variety of items being sold, number of vendors, number of attendees, etc. To be safe, we included the flea markets with the widest variety of items to sell. The other items were considered to be secondary quantifiers.

10. Brooklyn Flea

Brooklyn, NY

With over 100 vendors usually selling unique, handmade items, this flea market has definitely earned its spot on our list. They feature a lot of vintage items, including rugs, rare vintage watches, purses, and even jewelry. Embodying the hip and eclectic vibe of the borough, Brooklyn Flea has gained quite a following already.

9. Mustang Flea Market

Pinellas Park, Florida

From fresh local produce, to one of a kind vintage items, Mustang Flea Market, the number nine on our list of biggest flea markets on the east coast has got you covered. Endless vendors selling a wide variety of wares will surely have you browsing for hours. Do it like the locals do, and take a break at the nearby Cajun Cafe once you’re done shopping.

Stormville, New York

Over 600 vendors line up in the streets during this specialty flea market. The event boasts tons of vintage items, including antique furniture, art pieces, and collectibles. This mid-Atlantic flea market is regarded as one of the best in the area.

Miami Beach, Florida

Known to be one of the most underrated flea markets on the east coast, this market is sure to take you a few hours to get through. What sets this flea market apart from the others, is the presence of artisans and their countless unique items.

6. Scott Antique Markets

Atlanta, Georgia

This flea market number 6 on our list of biggest flea markets on the east coast features over 3,300 vendors selling vintage items and handmade goods. It is a monthly event in the city, which is famous for having consistent pricing. Furniture and oil paintings are among the many products sold here.

5.  Anderson Jockey Lot and Farmers’ Market

Belton, South Carolina

Truly one of the biggest on the east coast, this indoor and outdoor flea market is so big you should allot an entire day to explore all it has to offer. There are tons of unique finds like vintage items, arts and crafts, and so much more.

Atlanta, Georgia

Flea markets today don’t always sell vintage items; but this particular market is sure to fuel your love for vintage and old-fashioned pieces. Antique furniture and art pieces are their staples.

3. Mower’s Saturday Flea Market

Woodstock, New York

Woodstock has long been known for its artistic community and world-famous music festivals.
