Most Expensive Xbox Games

Since the Xbox stopped its production, it had 999 games circulating the console market, but how much are the most expensive Xbox games worth today? While some are pricey due to their rareness, becoming almost a collector’ item, others feature whopping prices because they are backward compatible, meaning they can be played on the Xbox 360.

In a previous article we compiled a list of the 10 most popular video games of all time – without discriminating the type of console – but in this case, we’ll be focusing on the rarity of each game. This factor might precisely make the games on the following list very appealing to some gamers, but their prices also make them a real investment to acquire, as they grow in value over time. But which characters and stories are we talking about exactly? These are the most expensive Xbox games.

7. Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Price: $120

Back in 2008, publisher Sierra Entertainment closed its doors and decided it would push out one last game before that occurred: the result was Dawn of the Dragon. Spyro’s adventures were sold at an inflated price, in part due to the company’s closing, but also due to the dragon’s popularity amongst children and adult gamers.

6. Record of Agarest War Limited Edition

Price: $140

This tactical game’s limited edition set is quite the gift package for anime fans and teenage boys alike. Focusing on the female heroines, the package features several goodies in addition to the actual game, such as a pillowcase of character Ellis, the soundtrack, and a 3D mouse pad. This is a particularly interesting aspect of the set, as its padding takes on the shape of Vira-Lorr’s breasts for gamers to rest their wrists on.

5. Bayonetta Climax Edition

Price: $246

This limited edition of Bayonetta certainly gives you a value for money trade, considering all the extras included in the game package. For one, it features a replica of one of the witches’ Scarborough Fair pistols, as well as an art book and the game’s soundtrack. The fact that this limited edition only featured the fake pistol in Australia and New Zealand’s version of the package, makes this an extremely rare collector’s item.

4. Halo 3 Legendary Edition

Price: $250

Halo is one of the most popular console games in the world, and when this collector’s edition appeared, featuring the Master Chief Mark VI helmet, fans across the globe lost a little piece of their sanity. However, the disappointment didn’t go unnoticed when it became clear that the helmet’s size could barely fit a toddler’s head. Nonetheless, this limited edition still sells at a high price and also includes a stand and a bonus DVD with a compilation of the previous games’ cinematics.

3. The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition

Price: $360

More than a video game, this collector’s edition resembles a kit for beginner musicians. Featuring a Höfner bass, modelled after Sir Paul McCartney’s own instrument, a microphone, and drums (the kick drum with the Beatles logo on it is the only fake part), this set is really all a gaming Beatles fan can ask for.

2. BioShock Limited Edition

Price: $650

There are currently several versions of BioShock’s Limited Edition package circulating the market, but this one is by far the most expensive. Released in 2007, this package contains a making-of DVD and a three-track EP, but the real treat is what fans and collectors crave the most: a hand-finished Big Daddy figurine in all its glory.

1. Fallout 3 Limited Edition

Price: $700

Yet another collector’s set, this apocalyptic open-world RPG’s is probably one of the most complete on the market, giving you real value for your money. Apart from a making-of DVD, the game disc, an art booklet, a lunchbox, and a bobble-head of Vault Boy – Fallout’s key mascot – the set also comes with a fans true desire: a life-size Pip-Boy 3000. This arm-mounted computer can define your survival throughout the game and is a real treat to collectors, although it obviously doesn’t function as effectively in real life. Nonetheless, this limited edition concludes our list of most expensive Xbox games.
