Brown University was founded in 1764, and is said to be the first university in the United States no matter what their religious affiliation is. It established its engineering program in 1847, which means it is the oldest such program in the Ivy League. It was also one of the first universities in the United States to offer doctorates, before adding masters and doctoral studies later on in 1887. Brown University has had 8 Nobel Laureates, four U.S. Secretaries of State, one Supreme Court Justice and numerous Rhode Scholars, United States Congress members, 24 Pulitzer Price winners and 8 billionaires to round of the prestigious list. As a bonus, Emma Watson also attended the university.
