Apple Inc. (AAPL) New iPhone To Be Called As Iphone Air

IPhone 6 is the talk of the town heading into the holiday season but as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone’s refresh cycle has come to be known over the years, focus now shifts to iPhone 7. MacWorld is providing an insight on what to expect from the new iPhone that is to be called iPhone 7 instead of iPhone 6S.

Apple Inc (AAPL)

Speculation is ripe that a name change could also be in the offing and that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could opt to call it iPhone Air. As competition ripens up in the smartphone arena, so is Apple expected to come up with a wonder phone just as it did with iPhone 6, which is already commanding impressive sales in the market. Advancement in technology would see iPhone 7 featuring a side-panel display as Apple tries to compete hand in hand against Samsung on the display front.

Reports indicate that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iPhone could be wrapped around the edge just as Samsung Galaxy Note Edge offers sidewall feature; Apple has reportedly filed patents for the same. iPhone 7 may also come with a Sapphire glass screen instead of gorilla glass that has been used on the previous models. It awaits to be seen if this will come to fruition, considering GT Advanced Technologies Inc. (OTCMKTS:GTATQ), which was expected to be the company’s front man on Sapphire glass, has filed for bankruptcy.

According to MacWorld, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will go with a liquid metal body for iPhone 7 having already filed a patent for liquid metal technology. Reports also indicate that the new device will be charged with a reversible lighting cable, Apple having filed for a patent for a USB connector that is reversible. The USB will reportedly be fitted with a tongue that can be shaped to fit any USB port.

iPhone 7 might also come with a lightning connector that is flexible awaiting release in September of 2015.
