6 Female Authors With Male Pen Names

3. Joanne Rowling

The creator of Harry Potter character gained tremendous success with this series of magical books. She never used her full name when publishing. Instead, she deemed better not to reveal her identity by using her full name so she used the initials, J.K. Rowling. She was afraid that young male readers might reject something written by a woman. But this isn’t the only time the author used a pen name. When writing The Cuckoo’s Calling, Rowling wanted to distance herself from her previous work so she used a new pen name, Robert Galbraith. When the true author was revealed, Joanne Rowling said that it was a great experience for her to get feedback under a different name, according to Mother Nature Network.
