George Strait is a singer and songwriter who left an important mark on country music genre. In times when the country music started to flirt openly with pop and other genres, Strait was one of the rare artists who decided to go back to its roots. Before you attack me, I am sure that there are plenty of country songs that would challenge the most experienced guitar player, but one of the appeals of the country music is the simplicity. There are not as many riffs and solos like there are in the rock music, chords are mostly basic ones and their progression is simple. His songs are catchy, tell a story and use few chords. As you will see from our list, the songs all work around 3 or 4 chords. However, remember that lots of patience and practice is needed to get accustomed to fast strumming and complicated chords change in some songs.
