2. Indonesia

Indonesia is unhealthy primarily due to insufficient healthcare spending in the country. The recorded statistic for healthcare spending as a percentage of GDP in the year 2014 was a measly 2.85%. It is hence no wonder that the country has inadequate healthcare in place. The year 2017 saw 597,994 of Bangladesh’s residents dying due to cardiovascular diseases, 121,488 due to digestive diseases, and 97,005 due to diabetes. Moreover, Indonesia is ranked as one of the countries with the highest number of smokers, as 39.4% of all adults in Indonesia were tobacco users in 2016. Smoking was also one of the most common reasons for deaths in the country; in 2017 it claimed 227,477 lives. Furthermore, 123,753 people in Bangladesh lost their lives due to air pollution, effectively depicting it as one of the countries with the most polluted environments.
