1. Niger

Niger is one of the unhealthiest countries due to it having one of the highest maternal mortality ratios worldwide. In 2015, the maternal mortality rate was recorded to be 553 in 100,000 live births. Furthermore, the infant mortality rate in the country is also one of the highest, as 9.1% of all children born alive died before reaching the age of five in 2016. Moreover, Niger is still battling the five most lethal diseases, as 20,620 children died of malaria, 16,939 died of diarrheal diseases, and 14,402 lost their lives to lower respiratory infections in 2016. Neonatal disorders claimed 13,967 lives, while meningitis and tuberculosis caused 7,815 and 5,809 lost lives respectively.
