Topping the list of the 15 biggest European companies by revenue is the largest car manufacturer in the world, in Volkswagen Group. While they of course operate the Volkswagen brand, they also operate other very famous car brands including Bentley, Audi, Cupra, Porsche, Lamborghini, Skoda and SEAT. The company has been the biggest car manufacturer in the world by number of vehicles and revenue for the past several years.

The company has operations in more than 150 countries with over a hundred production facilities in 27 countries. While it was created in the late 1930s with the backing of Adolf Hitler to producer affordable cars for the German population, the company has continued to grow massively since. In 2015, it was part of one of the biggest scandals in the world, and Volkswagen admitted that more than 11 million cars were fitted with devices to deceive emission tests. Overall, the company is expected to pay over $30 billion in penalties, fines and lawsuits pertaining to the scandal.
