9. Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was born before October 31, 1451, in Genoa and died on May 20, 1506 at the age of 54. At the time when the European kingdoms started establishing new trade routes, Columbus proposed to reach the East Indies by sailing. After he received the support of the Spanish Crown, he saw a chance to start a new route, and during his first voyage, he reached the New World, instead of Japan, first landing in what is now The Bahamas. While much of what Columbus “discovered” is not factual, he still had a large influence on world history.
