Luxury brands are a niche of the market that always seems to be lucrative and profitable, despite economic conditions. As long as people will continue to feel the need to surround themselves by only the finer things in life, the future looks bright for the world’s top luxury brands. But in this highly exclusive realm, which are the best performing companies?

Following, we would like to present you with a list we have compiled of the top luxury brands in the world, ranked according to their brand value. The figures used in the making of this countdown were taken from the statistics issued by Interbrand, an international branding consulting agency who evaluated some of the most popular luxury brands in the world.

While all brands on our countdown have impressive values according to Interbrand, our number one brand, Louis Vuitton, is pretty much in a league of its own, with an estimated brand value of $23.58, more than double that of our runner-up Gucci. The French fashion houses, founded more than a century ago, has grown into one of the most popular and powerful luxury brands in the world. The famous LV monogram adorns a wide range of products, from trunks and leather goods to clothing, sunglasses, accessories, shoes, and even books. The company distributes its goods through standalone boutiques, department store shop, and e-commerce. 2014 is the 8th year in a row that Louis Vuitton emerges as the most valuable luxury brand in the world. With such an impressive brand value, it is highly unlike that any other luxury company will take its place anytime soon.

Our runner-up Gucci, arguably the most popular Italian fashion house also has a long tradition of being a highly sought after luxury brand, spanning for more than 9 decades. Apart from being the best selling Italian brand, Gucci has always been considered one of the most valuable luxury brands in the world. With an estimated brand value of over $9 billion, it is easy to understand why Gucci has had such an impact in the fashion world.

Hermes wraps up our top three, with an estimated brand value of $6.18 billion. This Paris-based apparel and accessories company is one of the most appreciated luxury brands in the world. Its most distinct and sought after product is represented by the company’s collection of purses, adorned with the recognizable logo of a carriage with horse.

Curious to see how much the other top luxury brands in the world are worth? Let’s take a look at the countdown.
