10 Best Satellite and Space Stocks Billionaires Are Buying

Stocks in the sector have swung wildly this year, but billionaires haven't left.

8. AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTS)

Number of Billionaires: 15

Number of Hedge Funds: 34

AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTS) is a satellite designer and manufacturer focused on building a global cellular broadband network in space that is accessible by smartphones for commercial use, as well as for government use.

This is a big appeal for investors who believe there is a sizable market in covering areas that terrestrial towers miss. The company’s backlog also continues to grow. According to Insider Monkey’s database for Q2 2026, 15 billionaires held a stake in the company.

AST SpaceMobile, Inc. has partnered with over 60 mobile network operators, which serve more than 3 billion users, to integrate their ground infrastructure with its satellite network. Subscribers’ phones will automatically connect to the company’s satellites for uninterrupted coverage whenever they are out of reach of cell towers.

In August this year, President Trump signed a memo to increase the number of U.S. commercial space launches and re-entries to at least 1,000 each year by 2030. This is likely to benefit several players in the sector, including ASTS which is racing to get more spacecraft into orbit.

That said, the stock remains volatile. It has traded between $122 and $30 this year, as of the close on November 6. A single launch mishap has the potential to plunge shares, as it happened in April when the company’s BlueBird 7 satellite was placed into a lower-than-planned orbit.

7. Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ:RKLB)

Number of Billionaires: 16

Number of Hedge Funds: 52

Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ:RKLB) continues to lure investors due to its growth and widening business. According to Insider Monkey, 16 billionaires held a stake in the stock at the end of the second quarter of 2026.

Revenue reached a record $234 million in Q2, growing 62% year-over-year and by $34 million sequentially, amid strong demand across the business. Backlog increased a staggering 137% from the prior year’s period to $2.36 billion. Diluted EPS came in at $(0.08), compared to $(0.13) during the same period last year.

In June this year, Rocket Lab Corporation announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire Iridium Communications in a cash and stock transaction, representing an enterprise value of around $8 billion.

The deal will merge the company’s launch expertise and satellite manufacturing with Iridium’s global satellites communication network to establish a vertically-integrated space company that is capable of building, launching, and operating its own constellations. The transaction is expected to close in mid-2027.

That said, certain challenges remain which could hurt investor sentiment in the near term. Shares have plunged nearly 30% in the past month, after the inaugural launch of its new, larger Neutron rocket was delayed from Q4 2026 to early next year due to manufacturing defects.

6. Planet Labs PBC (NYSE:PL)

Number of Billionaires: 17

Number of Hedge Funds: 53

Planet Labs PBC (NYSE:PL) provides global, daily satellite imagery and geospatial solutions. As of Q2 2026, 17 billionaires held a stake in the company, up from 12 at the end of the first quarter. The appeal stems from accelerating growth.

The company recently reported strong results for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, with revenue reaching record levels after a 58% year-over-year increase. Net loss for the quarter totalled $9.4 million, compared to $22.6 million in the prior year’s period. Backlog was at approximately $814.9 million.

Planet Labs PBC is seeing increased demand in the area of defense. The company inked a 7-figure agreement with a European defense and intelligence customer in September to provide Planet Mosaics and dedicated Professional Services support. The agreement will run for one year.

This follows announcements earlier in the year in the defense sector with the Swedish Armed Forces, Defense Innovation Unit, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

Despite these positives, the stock is down 68% over the past 6 months, mainly due to concerns around profitability and a $1.5 billion equity distribution agreement announced in June. However, the plunge may invite bargain hunters.

5. Intuitive Machines, Inc. (NASDAQ:LUNR)

Number of Billionaires: 18

Number of Hedge Funds: 33

Intuitive Machines, Inc. (NASDAQ:LUNR) is a space infrastructure company with expertise in building spacecraft, connecting networks, and operating infrastructure as a service for clients in the civil, commercial, and defense markets.

The company has finalized several major acquisitions this year to scale up its satellite communications footing, which has fueled investors’ interest. According to Insider Monkey, 18 billionaires held a stake in LUNR at the end of Q2 2026. The count is unchanged from Q1, but up from 15 in Q4 2025.

Growth in revenue and backlog has also added to the appeal. The company achieved a record quarterly revenue of $206 million in the second quarter of 2026, increasing more than 4 times from the same period last year. Backlog totalled $1.8 billion, climbing by $1.5 billion from the end of 2025.

Much of the increase in backlog was driven by the Lanteris acquisition in January, new awards in support of three commercial satellites, IM-5 and IM-6 missions, a government defense contract, and other awards.

That said, caveats remain. The company reported a diluted net loss per share of $0.29, worsening from a loss of $0.22 per share last year. Overall, results missed Wall Street’s estimates for both earnings and revenue. It ended the quarter with a cash balance of $367 million, but capital expenditure is expected to rise in the quarters ahead.
