Recycled aluminum accounts for more than 80% of U.S. aluminum production, according to the Aluminum Association. That makes scrap recovery, sorting, and remelting central to the industry’s economics. The same organization estimates that producing recycled metal takes around 5% of the energy needed for new aluminum. For investors, the opportunity extends from extracting raw material to turning recovered metal into products that customers will pay a premium to use.
