Uncommon European Escapes

4. Andalucía, Spain

This autonomous community may be on a historians travel bucket list, but it’s oftentimes ignored by travellers’ road through Spain. Granada is especially breath taking with its Mediterranean architecture and multicultural history. The Alhambra, a palace and citadel built by the Moors several centuries ago, holds its own magic and will transport you to another time. Also, head up to Setenil de las Bodegas for a special travel experience: a town with 3000 inhabitants, its houses are built into huge rock caves alongside the River Trejo.
