What started out as a cable network, Liberty Media has acquired, merged and bought a lot of other facets that would turn them into what they are today. They own a number of channels and other media networks like Discovery Channel and QTV. They also acquire a part of the internet and telephone communications company AT&T. 10. News Corporation

Originally from Australia, News Corporation would eventually relocate itself to the heart of New York. They are one of the world’s leading media companies in terms of revenue. News Corporation was actually a larger company that split into two branches of media. News Corporation has continued by that name for the publishing sector and the other sector is something we all know as 21st Century Fox.

9. Dish Network

One of the strongest in providing satellite cable TV to most of America, Dish Network has recently continued to diversify and expand their reach. They continue to acquire and buy companies that are selling or are bankrupt. They hope expand their reach into other areas of media like the internet and telecommunications.

8. Viacom

Video and Audio communications or Viacom is one of the strongest among the American media conglomerates in this list. They also have large revenue with media networks in all areas of the globe. Viacom originally had a lot more in scope of the media industry but had a split internally with the other network now known as CBS.

CBS or originally known as Columbia Broadcasting system is one of the leaders in the television and radio industry. They are one of the first companies in the world to showcase color television. Currently they have over 200 radio and TV establishments in the world after the split and re-branding of CBS from Viacom.

6. WPP

This British advertising and public relations company is one of the strongest in the world financially. They have offices and employees around the world and own a number of market research networks. WPP is the owner company and they have numerous advertising and public relations companies under their corporation.

Time Warner was formed by the merger of Warner Communications and Time Inc. They are currently one of the biggest revenue earners in terms of television and film. A few of the well known names under them include HBO, the CW network, DC Comics, Cartoon Network and CNN.

3. 21^st Century Fox

Also known as Fox, the company was a by-product of the former assets of News Corporation. They currently own the 20^th Century Fox film studio as well as the Fox television network.

2. Walt Disney

Now commonly known as Disney, they are the second of the world’s largest media conglomerates. Originally founded by Roy and Walt Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, Disney expanded into TV, film and even the world of theme parks.
