Popularity of iPad Mini: Somebody at LinkedIn Loves the Apple iPad mini

A Leading Company Cheaper Than 90% Of Blue Chips... And It Recently Bounced 12%Popularity of iPad Mini: Over the past couple of weeks, we have published a few stories about the popularity of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices in the corporate world. If you are interested in reading some of these stories, check out here and here.

With the same idea as Home Depot switching managers to the iPhone from BlackBerry, it appears that LinkedIn is getting in on the action.

Jeff Weiner, the well known CEO of LinkedIn, knows that people are craving the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini. So, what did he do about it? Well, he purchased 3,5000 of these devices and gave them away to employees as a token of appreciation.

While there is no rule saying how the employees have to use the iPad mini, it is safe to say that many will be using it for both business and pleasure.

Business Insider has confirmed that this report is accurate by speaking with a company spokesperson who said the following:

“We wanted to acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of all of our employees in 2012. During today’s biweekly All Hands meeting, we surprised our employees with iPad Minis as a small gesture of the company’s gratitude for their contributions.”

When buying so many devices, it would only be natural for Weiner to skimp and buy the “base model.” Except for the fact that this is not what he did.

The same Business Insider piece added the following:

“Weiner didn’t cheap out, either—one employee tells us they got the $429, 32-gigabyte model, not the less-expensive $329 model. At retail prices, that would cost around $1.5 million.”

LinkedIn could have purchased just about anything for these employees. However, they choose to buy 3,500 Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad minis to show how much they care.
