New Apple TV Coming: Peter Misek Talks about Potential for Apple TV

New Apple TV Coming: Earlier today, we published this story – Another Apple Inc. Acquisition Rumor, This Time TV Related – related to the possibility of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) acquiring German luxury TV maker Loewe.

While neither company has yet to address this rumor, millions of people are still wondering if Apple will ever make a strong push into the television industry.

According to Peter Misek, an analyst for Jefferies Equity Research, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is preparing for a product event next month related to the television space.

Misek was quoted by AppleInsider as saying the following:

“Channel checks indicate Apple has a product event in March that is Apple-TV related (possibly an iTV SDK introduction).”

Right now, all we can do is sit and wonder what Apple is going to talk about during this media event. With that in mind, Misek still believes that the Cupertino-based company is going to begin selling its revamped TV during the third quarter of 2013.

According to the same AppleInsider piece, he also “told investors he may need to be pushed back his estimates a full quarter if the launch of the product occurs in October rather than September.”

At this point, you are probably looking for some more information on what the new television product will offer. Once again, there is nothing official from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) but Misek is predicting the following:

“We expect a price point of $1,500+ for a 42” to 55” model and also expect a below corporate average [gross margin]. Apple is likely to largely rely on leveraging content via partnerships with existing pay-TV operators.”

What happens next is still up in the air. One thing is for sure, however: a lot of people, investors included, are going to have their eyes on the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) special media event that is due to take place in March.
