Blackberry Z10 Smartphone: Research In Motion – Z10′s ‘Usage Share’ Doubled 20 Days After U.S. Release: Report

Blackberry Z10 Smartphone: There has been a lot of drama surrounding the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Z10 smartphone as of late. First, you had Detwiler Fenton claiming that returns of the company’s Z10 are exceeding sales in some cases. Then, we published this piece yesterday. With all of this going on, many have not been paying attention to what matters most: the device itself.

Research in Motion Ltd. (BBRY)Fortunately, Chitika has released some key statistics. In short, they took a close look at North America Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Z10 adoption.

There is no denying that Research In Motion Ltd is hoping for big things with its new BlackBerry 10 operating system. The company is hoping that this system, coupled with two new smartphones, the Z10 and Q10, will allow it to steal back some of the market share that has been taken away by iOS and Android devices in the past few years.

For a better idea of how much progress the operating system is making in terms of North American adoption by users, “Chitika Insights conducted a study examining the BlackBerry Z10’s impact on North American BlackBerry Web usage in the days since its release.”

By examining a samples of “tens of millions of U.S. and Canadian mobile ad impressions from the Chitika Ad Network” the company was able to compare its findings against past stats related to the competition.

Fortunately for Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), things are looking up. When you view the graph embedded in the Chitika study, you will see that BlackBerry 10’s share of BlackBerry traffic increased to 5.3% by April 11. According to the report, “this represents an approximate doubling in usage share since the Z10’s U.S. release 20 days prior.”

This compares well to iPhone 5 users which generated “generated 5.5% of all North American iPhone traffic 15 days after its release.”

With the steady growth of the Research In Motion Ltd BlackBerry 10 operating system, the company has something to hang its hat on as the days go by. Of course, it needs to continue moving in the right direction as the Q10 begins to hit the market in the weeks to come.

What are your thoughts on this report by Chitika regarding Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) traffic?
