A couple days ago, we brought you a story about the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Balance Demo Team taking to the streets of Washington, D.C. While this was a good way for the company to spread the word about what it has to offer, it was not the first time.
According to a recent blog post on the company’s business blog, BlackBerry hosted two “Appy Hour” events in the nation’s capital during the month of May. These events were meant to show the new Z10 to the public.

“The BlackBerry Z10 was a big hit with the government workers in attendance, many of whom expressed a strong desire for their agencies to upgrade. Attendees remarked that the phone was “solid” and “great,” while others thanked BlackBerry for the fun experience.”
For a company that is struggling to keep up with the competition, this is good news. Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is doing its best to show consumers that its newest devices, including both the Z10 and Q10, are capable of stacking up against any other in the smartphone market. Of course, this is due in large part to the company’s news BlackBerry 10 operating system.
The event was also a place for the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry demo team to show interested attended what BlackBerry Balance has to offer. As this is one of the most compelling features of the Z10 experience, it is something the company is hoping to push to a larger audience moving forward

Has Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) been able to make up a lot of ground in the smartphone market since May? Not really. That being said, it is not slowing down and continues to ask consumers to exercise some patience as things are sorted out.
Events like these can help BlackBerry connect with users, garner feedback, and show the world that it cares about its users.
