The world is also happening on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) and people need to be on the service to participate in current events, Aliza Knox told CNBC in a recent discussion.

The managing director for online sales in Asia Pacific for Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) was discussing this year’s “Golden Tweet,” or the tweet that got the most retweets and favorites when she commented about how the company’s service has become an integral part in how the world experiences current events.

“I would say the most important thing really is what you see is that the world is happening on Twitter. Most events that happen in the world, you also see on Twitter. So if you want to be part of that, if you want to participate, you need to be on Twitter. You don’t need to tweet, you need to be there watching,” she said.
