Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg talked to Bloomberg’s Emily Chang in an exclusive interview about his mission to connect the world. He pointed out that almost two-third of world’s population is still unexposed to internet and a push for internet at these places might be important to connect the world. Bloomberg’s Scarlet Fu and Brendan Greeley discussed on Bloomberg TV about Zuckerberg’s comments on push for internet.
Fu mentioned that Zuckerberg talked to Emily Chang in an exclusive interview about the biggest challenge/hurdle that keeps people from internet. What could possibly be that challenge that can prevent people from getting online?
“It turns out that the biggest hurdle actually isn’t either technical or affordability. It’s the social challenge, where the majority of people aren’t connected actually are within range of the network and can afford it but actually don’t know why they would want to use internet,” Zuckerberg said.
Fu mentioned that she is not ready to believe the statement that Zuckerberg said. Greeley mentioned that it is completely ridiculous. He mentioned that there are two things going on. He said that according to FCC data, in US, there are some concerns for using internet among the older population. But generally the people who have access to internet and not willing to use is mainly due to the fact that they are frustrated about the terms and conditions associated with it.
Greeley pointed out that the Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB)’s global user map indicates that its users are majorly in the place where high speed internet cables is available. He added that if the high speed cable is present then people will figure out how to use it and access Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).
He said that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is trying to create the technology that will spread the internet through drones or some other crazy stuff.
