BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Makes Top Security Hire, Go Figure

It is hard to imagine a situation in which BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) doesn’t put security above all else. This is what the company is built on. This is what has turned the company into such a successful brand over the years.

Once again, BlackBerry has security on its mind, this time making a killer hire for the position of Chief Security Officer.

As you can tell by the title alone, this position is extremely important to the company as a whole, as well as the millions of people who rely on its services to be safe and secure at all times.

David Kleidermacher is the newest member of the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) security team. He has more than 20 years of experience, which includes authoring the book: Embedded Systems Security: Practical Methods for Safe and Secure Software and Systems Development.

Before joining BlackBerry, Kleidermacher worked as the Chief Technology Officer for Green Hills Software.

Not excited with this hire? Think BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) could have done better? If so, maybe this quote from CEO John Chen will change your mind:

“David is an outstanding addition to our best-in-class security team, and he will help extend BlackBerry’s gold standard of security as we work with customers to meet new cybersecurity challenges. In particular, David’s knowledge of securing the Internet of Things and embedded systems will be invaluable as we execute on our strategy and continue to expand our management of the world’s mobile endpoints.”

As you can see, Chen is excited about bringing Kleidermacher on board. Furthermore, he continues to believe, for good reason, that BlackBerry has the best security team in the world.

Every company talks about security. Every company knows this is something they have to be on top of. However, BlackBerry takes this talk to the next level. Since day one, the company has been committed to mobile security. This is the primary reason why it has more than 70 government certifications, a mark that is unmatched.

Times have not been easy for the one time industry leading smartphone company. Fortunately, its security solutions have not fallen off in the least bit. This has gone a long way in keeping BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) relevant for so many years.
