BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Gives International Business Machines Corp.(IBM) Another Reason To Wail

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) might have earlier been compared to the likes of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), but now the Ontario based once star of the smart phone world, is handing out a lashing to whoever comes in its way, and this time International Business Machines Corp.(NYSE:IBM) got to hear a little bit of the whipping music. On Bloomberg, Su Keenan, reported on why IBM is receiving this treatment.

Research in Motion Ltd. (BBRY)

” […] BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) held an event in San Francisco to unveil the server and nudging rivals in the process. This partnership directly competes with an alliance between IBM and Apple. In fact that announcement back in July sent Blackberry shares plunging 12% in one day […],” reported Keenan.

The event that Keenan was talking about involved the ominous announcement by BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) that it is partnering up with Samsung, who was as big a rival as Apple and IBM until this announcement, to have Samsung KNOX as an integral part of its BES 12, the enterprise mobility management software. This partnership greatly enhances the effectiveness of BES 12 in a work space environment.

IBM has recently been hit by a lackluster earnings report, and a future that looks glum as well. BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) just added another dimension to the word glum for IBM.

Blackberry’s CEO, John Chen has vowed that his mission is to make the company profitable, and only a few people took him seriously, but he has been delivering on many fronts since he became the company’s CEO. Surprisingly enough, that wasn’t too long ago either, just about a year ago in fact. BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has also released two phones this year with the third one coming this December.

However, it is the BES 12 that will prove to be the knight in shining armour for the company and Chen is not sparing any effort to make sure that the software package delivers.
