Billionaire Eddie Lampert Cuts AutoNation Position, Still Holds a Boatload

Eddie Lampert‘s ESL Partners has a very limited equity portfolio. One of the hedge fund’s four stock holdings, AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE:AN), has been the recipient of massive capital inflows from the billionaire in the past.

Today, Lampert disclosed with the SEC that he now owns 26.1% of AutoNation’s outstanding stock, for a total of 31.7 million shares. This is a large increase from the 20.2 million share-stake Lampert reported in his last 13F, but a slight decrease from the 35.5 million share position he reported in separate 13D filing last month.
