The United States of America is the 3^rd largest country by population with 322,048,000 people living in it. But have you ever wondered where the majority of this population live? If yes, then our 21 Biggest Cities in the US by 2014 Population list will give you all the answers. The United States is ranked third only behind India and China, and its residents make up to 4.43% of the entire world’s population. For our research we used the data collected by the United States Census Bureau, which estimated the population of the US cities on, or before, July 1, 2014 and ranked 295 places in the United States. The condition was that they have a population of at least 100,000. We only took incorporated places or municipalities. These include cities, counties, towns, townships, charter townships, villages. Other possibility is to take the population of the metropolitan area, however, we didn’t follow that route in this article. United States Census Bureau also made some related estimates, including that one person is born in the United States every 8 seconds and one person dies every 12 seconds.

When we compare estimated population with 2010 census to 2014 estimate, we can see there were no changes in the top 10 cities with the biggest population. 21. Denver

Located in the state of Colorado Denver has 663,862 residents.

20. Seattle

Seattle had a population of 608,660 in the 2010 census, but now the number is 668,342.

19. El Paso

Sixth largest city in the state of Texas has a population of 679,036.

18. Detroit

Detroit is the only city in the top 21 that had a population decrease from 2010 census. It has 680,250 residents, comparing to the 713,777 in 2010.

17. Charlotte

This North Carolina city has had the second largest population growth on our list. It has a population 809,958 comparing to the 731,424 in 2010, resulting in 10.74% population increase.

16. Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas has a population of 812,238.

15. Columbus

Ohio state’s largest city has a population of 835,957.

14. Indianapolis

Indianapolis recorded 3.45% population increase from 2010, summing up the population of 848,788 which ranks it in the position 14 of 21 Biggest Cities In the US by 2014 Population.

San Francisco has 852,469 residents, comparing to the 805,235 it had in 2010.

Florida’s largest city has a population of 853,382.

As we said in the intro, Austin recorded the biggest increase (15.49%9 in the population from 2010. It has a population of 912,791 now.

Opening the top 10 is San Jose, which increased its population of 945,942 from 2010 to 1,015,785.

Second biggest city in Texas with 1,281,047 residents.

8. San Diego

San Diego now has 1,381,069 comparing to 1,307,402 residents in 2010.

7. San Antonio

San Antonio also recorded notable increase of population from 8.23% and now the figure stands on 1,436,697.

6. Phoenix

This city in Arizona has  1,537,058 residents.

5. Philadelphia

Fifth biggest city in the US by 2014 population is Philadelphia with 1,560,297 residents.

4. Houston

Huston is the biggest Texas state city with a population of 2,239,558.

3. Chicago
