We are continuing our list of biggest, deadliest, most devastating hurricanes to hit the United States with Hurricane Floyd which caused real disaster in the eastern Carolinas northeast into New Jersey, and in adjacent areas along the east coast into Maine. The 15-20 inches of rain that fell across the eastern half of the state had every river and stream flooding the area. As a consequence, some parts remained under the water for weeks.
