Sometimes, we can’t even believe our own eyes. That’s often the case with some photos that cause rumors to spread and mysteries to be created around them. You probably remember at least one mysterious photograph that raised discussion worldwide and caused people to develop their own theories. But what baffles me is that there are indeed, photos that were not explained to this very day despite the advances in technology and science. Such photographs still raise controversy and even fear among people because the bottom line is that we don’t like not knowing something. 13. The Babushka Lady

While everyone else was trying to run away and find cover when John F. Kennedy was hot, one woman made a series of photos to document the tragic event. She is also present in many photos taken that day where she is seen with a camera, although none of her photographs ever materialized. The Babushka Lady could have been the key to resolving many mysteries and theories about John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Even though the FBI searched for the woman, they could not find her. Later a woman named Beverly Oliver admitted being the Babushka lady but her story was suspicious as she claimed to have recorded everything with the Yashica Super 8 camera that didn’t even come out until 1968. The identity of Babushka lady is still unknown.

12. Freaky Creature From the Cave

During the mid-90s, a tourist visiting a cave in Ras al-Khaimah made a photo showing a creepy creature in the cave. Allegedly, two friends saw the creature, and so they took a photo, but they also heard a boy shrieking after the picture was taken. They told this to the police who searched the cave and found a human body. Many stories have been told about that picture, and to this very day, no one knows for sure what was in that cave. The photo started circulating in the middle 1990s when the photographer sold it an advertiser. The photo gained global attention, but it was never actually clear what happened in that cave. 11. The Creature From Queensland

Another one on our list of mysterious photos that science cannot explain is a photo taken in 1964 by a French photographer who took a picture of what appears to be a large black snake-like creature beneath the surface of the water in Queensland in Australia. 10. The Modern Man

A photograph was taken in 1941 showing a group of people. At first, there’s nothing weird about that photo, but at second glance, you can notice a man dressed in modern clothing and standing out of the crowd wearing hats and jackets typical for the 1940s. There has never been an explanation for this photo.

9. The Giant

A man named Gregory Sporri took several disturbing photos in 1985 that made many people that giants did exist. Gregory met a grave robber in Egypt who possessed a mummified finger measuring 15 inches long. A finger that long means the man himself had to be about 12 feet tall at least. These disturbing photographs were never explained.

8. The Spaceman

A man named Jim Templeton took a photo of his daughter, and there was nothing strange about the place where they were until he developed the film and noticed what appears to be some sort of a spaceman standing behind the little girl. According to Kodak, the film was not altered in any way, and since there was no one around the girl and the man when he took the photo, this mystery remains unresolved.

7. A Family Photo

A family who moved into a new house wanted to have a nice picture of all them sitting together. What they didn’t hope for is to notice an uninvited guest when the film is developed. The photo shows a blurry body as if it was falling off the ceiling. No credible explanation was ever given for this even though the police investigated the case.

6. A Ghost at the Church

If you want more mysterious pictures that can’t be explained, then take a look at this one. A man named Peter Berthelot took a picture of his wife at a church. When he developed the film, he noticed something that appears to be a ghost sitting behind her. 5. The Ghost at The Newby Church

Another ghost related image that was never explained is this photo taken by the Reverend K. F. Lord in 1963 in the North Yorkshire’s Newby Church. Even though many ghost images turn out to have straightforward explanations, no logical explanation was ever provided for this one. The image shows a figure standing by the altar and wearing a cowl even though there were no people inside at the time when the photo was taken.

4. The Dead Man

One of the greatest mysteries among photos that were never explained is this photographs involving Freddy Jackson, a man who was accidentally killed by an airplane propeller. But the strange thing is that Freddy seems to appear in the photo of his crew taken two days after his death. All of his colleagues claimed it was him in the photo even though the photo was actually take on the day of the funeral.

3. The Battle of Los Angeles

What is also known as the Great Los Angeles Air Raid took place in February 1942 and it was a rumored enemy attack and anti-aircraft artillery barrage. But according to some people, this image actually shows something else. UFO-logists think the image shows an extraterrestrial aircraft.

2. The Death Scene

Another strange case that continues to baffle us to this very day took place in 1951. The image taken by the St. Petersburg cops shows the death scene of a woman named Mary Reeser whose entire body was engulfed into by flame but her left foot which was left intact. In 1959 a woman took a photo of her husband driving the car when she visited her mother’s grave. When she developed the film, she was shocked to notice a faint image of a person sitting behind her husband. She believes this was the ghost of the mother in the car.
