10 Most Sold Motorcycle Brands In The World

4. Harley-Davidson, Inc.

Making the list of the 10 most sold motorcycle brands in the world is Harley-Davidson, which is probably one of the most well known motorcycle brands in the world as well. In 1903, the Davidson brothers shared a small shed as the company’s first work area and teamed up with William Harley to work on a motor bicycle. You might be surprised to learn that the Harley Davidson brand’s history didn’t start with recognition and success, though.

By the 1920s, Harley-Davidson had been established as the biggest motorcycle manufactuer in the world, and had dealers in 67 countries, though the company nearly went bankrupt in the 1950s due to competition from superior Japanese bikes. However, this changed in the 1980s when Vaughn Beals, Willie G. Davidson, and a group of investors acquired the business from AMF and turned it around. The company has improved its design and production processes over the past 35 years, propelling it to the top of the motorbike industry. Millions of dollars were spent modernizing Harley-Davidson with features including five-speed transmissions, rubber-mounted engines, and modern aesthetics.
